LITTLE DIXIE CONTEST BRINGING 1,300 STUDENTS TO ECU OCT. 23 AND 25
Approximately 1,300 high school students from across the state will compete in the Little Dixie Music Contest either Oct. 23 [TUESDAY] or Oct. 25 [THURSDAY] at East Central University.
Students are coming from Altus in southwest Oklahoma to Oologah in the northeast, said Kelly Alig, director of the contest which has been held at ECU for more than 25 years.
About 800 students from smaller schools will compete on Oct. 23, with 500 students from larger schools performing on Oct. 25. They will be judged in solo, choir and ensemble competitions. Trophies and medals will be awarded for superior ratings and choirs will compete for a sweepstakes award.
