The East Central University Police Department provides uniformed, state-certified police officers for enforcement of local, state and federal laws 24 hours per day. Officers are available to students or employees needing access to buildings or residences after hours upon request and presentation of proper identification. Around-the-clock car and foot patrol is maintained on campus property.

A no-tolerance policy on alcohol and drugs is upheld on all ECU property. All local, state and federal laws will be enforced by the ECU Police Department.

The mission of the ECU Police Department is to maintain the public peace and safety and to safeguard the assets of the institution and its faculty, staff, students and visitors and to assist in providing an environment conducive to the teaching, research and public service mission of the University. As part of this mission it is the responsibility of the ECU Police Department to enforce all University regulations and state, local and federal laws.

Drug/Alcohol Counseling
East Central University has referral counseling on drug and alcohol abuse available to employees and students. Informational programs on drug and alcohol abuse are offered for any student groups or employees.

Safety Seminars
Seminars and programs on self-protection, safety precautions, rape, and personal property theft prevention are available to any student, student group, or employee of ECU.
