East Central University’s Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya recently received the Excellence in Classroom Teaching Award (Post-Secondary) at the Southwest Conference on Language Teaching at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City.

The recipient of the award goes to an educator, who teaches languages other than English and has contributed significantly to the teaching of second languages and to the profession. The instructor’s impact of the contribution must be significant in terms of the influence the individual has made on student learning.

The Southwest Conference on Language Teaching consists of the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah.

“I am very honored to be selected as this year’s recipient of that wonderful award,” said Sukholutskaya. “I share it with thousands of my colleagues in the United States and abroad who come to their classes every morning and with a simple greeting ‘Good morning! Bonjour! Buenos Dias! Добрый день!’ to open a door to the fascinating world of languages and cultures to a countless number of students.”
