A recital of clarinet music dedicated to East Central University's Centennial, as well as the centennial of the birth of the famous clarinetist Benny Goodman, will be performed Monday [SEPT. 28] by Dr. Mark Hollingsworth, chair of ECU's Music Department.

The recital is free and will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

Accompanying Hollingsworth will be ECU music faculty members Dr. Starla Hibler, piano; Dr. Benjamin T. Finley, drums and vibraphone; Rudy Lupinski, piano; Dr. Allen Correll, trumpet; and ECU Dean of Students Bronson Warren, bass. Also accompanying him will be members of the Moonlighters, Dr. Doug Laramore, trumpet; Richard Howard, trombone; and Bob Bennett, guitar.

The recital will feature both the classical and jazz sides of Benny Goodman with musical selections including the "Clarinet Concerto" by Aaron Copland, "Benniana" by Steven Harlos and several jazz combo pieces written by Goodman along with members of his famous swing band of the 1930s.
