ADA – East Central University’s Department of Music will present the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Concert on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ataloa Theatre inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

Dr. Allen Correll is the conductor for the concert, which is free and open to the public and Dr. Ben Finley will serve as assistant conductor.

The program will open with the ECU Symphonic Band. Pieces being performed are Ignition (2012) by Todd Stalter (Rick Street as conductor), Fantasy on am Irish Air (2001) by Richard Suacedo, and Fight or Flight (2013) by Jim Casella (Finley as conductor).

After intermission, the ECU Wind Ensemble takes over as Shortcut Home (2001) by Dana Wilson (Finley as conductor) will be performed. That will be followed by The Sussex Mummer’s Christmas Carol (1965) by Percy Grainger (completed and scored by Richard Franko Goldman), Radiant Joy (2006) by Steven Bryant and Toccata Marziale (1924) by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Members of the ECU Instrumental Applied Faculty will also be participating, including Juliann Overmier (flute), Amanda Hall (oboe and bassoon), Dr. Lauren Cox (clarinet and saxophone), Correll (trumpet), Evan Chancellor (French horn), Eric Hall (trombone), Paul Nesper (trombone, euphonium and tuba), Finleu (percussion) and Susan Wooley (strings).
