An Elections 101 class at East Central University is designed to help area citizens participate fully in the 2008 elections and get involved in the community. The class will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on three Thursdays, Sept. 18, Sept. 26 and Oct. 3.

The focus will be on the election process, analysis of the electoral issues, constitutional provisions regarding the separation of powers, aspects of grassroots democracy; citizens’ roles, responsibility and involvement in the political process; good governance and shifting trends in the financing of political parties and campaigns.

Election issues of the day ranging from what’s happening in Ada to international affairs will be presented in a non-partisan way by Dr. Christine Pappas, ECU associate professor of political science.
