“Chickasaw Appreciation Day” will be celebrated with the groundbreaking of the new Chickasaw Plaza at 5 p.m. Saturday at East Central University’s Koi Ishto Stadium.

The groundbreaking, at the northwest corner of the football stadium, is being held one hour before the kickoff of the Tigers’ home football game with Southern Nazarene University at 6 p.m.

Free admission to the game is available for the entire family with Chickasaw employment badges or Chickasaw citizenship cards.

The Chickasaw Plaza will feature amenities including an inviting new entry gate at the northwest part of the stadium along with larger concession stand and restroom areas.

That particular gate will serve as the primary entrance into the stadium and will include a ticket booth and storefront for the fan shop. Also included in the project, in which funds were provided by the Chickasaw Nation, will be resurfacing of the parking lot, along with a new layout of the lot, which will feature reserved parking.
