A $125,000 gift to the East Central University Foundation Inc. from the Ada public accounting firm Horne and Company has established the Horne and Company Regents Professorship in Accounting at ECU.

The gift was made by the firm's partners, Bill Horne Sr., Bill Horne Jr. and Curtis Wilson. It will be matched by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

"This gift will enable the Accounting Department and the School of Business to attract and retain an outstanding accounting professor to lead the accounting program at ECU as it moves to implement a new master's degree in accounting," said Dr. William Chapman, interim dean of the School of Business.

Chapman said Horne and Company has been a strong supporter of ECU's accounting program for 40 years by employing many of its accounting graduates, providing part-time jobs for ECU accounting students or funding accounting scholarships.
