Student Life

The art department serves a little more than 350 students each semester. However, it is our majors that are the core and strength of the department. There are approximately 60 art majors currently enrolled at this time. These individuals share a strong and active interest in the visual arts, even though they come from widely varied backgrounds. Indeed the department is proud of its diversity. Students from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East attend shoulder to shoulder with students from cities and small towns in Oklahoma and Texas.  The upcoming move to the state of the art Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center will allow the department to grow and attract even more students creating a vital community of artistic minds. 

Students also maintain an active Art Club, sponsoring cultural activities such as museum trips, gallery openings, and an avante garde film festival. Dues are only seven dollars per semester or ten dollars for the entire year.  Non-majors are encouraged to join.
