Who can apply for housing?

On campus housing is available to first-time, Undergraduate students at ECU that are enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours each semester.
 


AM I REQUIRED TO LIVE ON CAMPUS?

ECU requires all Freshmen to live on campus. For more information see the Freshmen Residence Requirement.
 


I AM AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT, DO I NEED TO LIVE ON CAMPUS?

All Freshmen are required to live on campus.  In addition, to receive in state tuition, an International Student must live on campus until they are 21 years old. For more information please see the Non-Resident Tuition Waiver.
 


WHEN CAN I APPLY FOR HOUSING?

The housing application will be available through your MyECU portal or this Application Link. If you are accepted to the University, you are eligible to submit a housing application.
 


HOW DO I APPLY FOR HOUSING?

The housing application is available on your MyECU portal. The housing application may only be submitted after the application fee is paid in the Bursar's Office or online. Immunization records should also be turned in at this time. For more information please see the Immunization Requirements or contact Health Services.
 


WHEN IS THE DEADLINE FOR HOUSING APPLICATIONS?

There will be no deadlines for the housing applications.  However, the earlier the application is submitted the student will have a greater chance of receiving their requested room or residence hall.
 


HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT BUILDING/ROOMMATE I AM ASSIGNED?

You will be able to select your building and roommate online.  
 


DO I HAVE TO APPLY EVERY SEMESTER?

No, housing contracts run from August to May. You will need to apply for housing each spring semester for the following school year.
 


CAN MY HOUSING APPLICATION BE CANCELLED?

Residents can cancel their housing application, but there are stipulations in the housing contract that residents should be aware of.
 


IF I CANCEL MY APPLICATION, DO I GET MY APPLICATION FEE REFUNDED?

No, the application fee is non-refundable.
 


DO I HAVE TO MOVE MY BELONGINGS OUT OF THE RESIDENCE HALL OVER WINTER BREAK?

No, you have the same room in the fall and spring semesters.
 


DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE A MEAL PLAN?

Yes, all residents are required to purchase a meal plan.
 


CAN I CHANGE MY MEAL PLAN?

Meal plans can be decreased during the first ten days of class each semester.  You may increase your meal plan at any time during the semester.
 


HOW DO I PAY FOR HOUSING AND MEAL PLANS?

Payments are made through the Bursar's Office in accordance to Bursar Office policy.
 


WILL FINANCIAL AID COVER MY HOUSING AND MEAL PLAN?

Financial aid questions should be directed to the Financial Aid Office, however, if you have financial aid left over after your other fees are covered, it should be applied to your housing bill.
 


CAN I CHANGE ROOMS?

Room changes are not available during the first two weeks of each semester. After the first two weeks, room changes are handled on a case-by-case basis.
 


WHO SHOULD I GO TO IF I HAVE QUESTIONS?

A Resident Assistant (RA) is assigned to each area of the residence halls. RAs are trained to assist students with any issues that may arise.
 


CAN I TOUR A ROOM?

Yes, campus tours can be scheduled by contacting the Student Development Office.
 


ARE THE RESIDENT HALLS SAFE?

Yes, all buildings are locked 24/7. Residents can access the building they reside in with their ECU ID and their room with a key. Cameras are in the common areas and the buildings are staffed with RAs. In addition, residents should always do their part to ensure the safety of the buildings do not become compromised.
