Each regular full-time employee is eligible for employment benefits at East Central University. A full-time employee is defined as a regular employee working 40 hours or more per week. This information was developed for the convenience of ECU employees and other interested parties.

Campus Closures and Other Paid Time Off

Closures:

  • 1 week in March for Spring Break

  • 2 days in October for Fall Break

  • 3 days in November for Thanksgiving Break

  • 10 days in December for Winter Break

  • Summer Hours in June and July

Other Paid Time Off

Every full-time employee also receives annual and/or sick leave per employee classification. 

  • Faculty earn 1.25 days of sick leave per month

  • Exempt staff earn 1.25 days of sick leave and 1.67 days of annual leave per month

  • Non-exempt staff earn 1.25 of sick leave and annual leave accrual rates are based upon years of service and percentage of contract per month

Additional Holiday Observances (Campus Closed):

  • Memorial Day - Last Monday in May

  • * Juneteenth National Independence Day - 19th of June

  • * Independence Day - 4th of July

  • Labor Day - First Monday in September

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day- Third Monday in January

  • * (Summer Hours schedule applies; The University may elect to observe these Holidays on the closest workday if they occur on a weekend)

COBRA
You may continue your health related benefits through the federal COBRA plan upon termination of employment.

Unemployment Compensation
The University is self insured for the unemployment program that is administered by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

Tuition
East Central University tuition waivers are available for employees and their dependents, per the Tuition Waiver Policy.

Direct Deposit
Direct Deposit is required for all regular personnel.

Pay Distribution
All employees are paid on the last working day of each month. Nine, 10 and 12-month contracts are all paid in twelve installments.
