ADA, Okla. – Every performer dreams of hearing the words, “You’re in.”
For East Central University vocal music student Adam Park of Shawnee, Oklahoma, that dream became a reality after submitting an audition video that earned him a spot in the Comeback Cabaret at Don’t Tell Mama, located in New York City’s famous Theatre District, where he will perform on August 2nd at 7:30 p.m.
For Park, however, the acceptance email was only the beginning. Determined to make the opportunity happen, he funded the trip himself, boarded a Greyhound bus bound for New York City, and set out to pursue a dream that many performers spend years chasing.
“This is what dreams are made of,” said Vickie Reifsnider, Instructor of Theatre and Humanities at East Central University. “Adam believed in himself enough to take the chance. We couldn’t be more proud to see him representing East Central University on a New York City stage, and we’re excited to cheer him on as he takes this next step in his journey.”
The Comeback Cabaret is a recurring New York City musical revue that celebrates emerging performers, musical theatre artists, and songwriters. The showcase features a rotating cast of approximately 10 to 15 performers in each production, providing an opportunity for new talent to perform at Don’t Tell Mama, one of the city’s most recognizable cabaret venues.
At ECU, Park has become a familiar face on stage. He is an active member of both the ECU Choir and the ECU Showtime Show Choir, and audiences have seen him perform in numerous university theatre and musical productions. He was also selected to perform the National Anthem during East Central University’s Fall 2025 Commencement ceremony.
His appearance in The Comeback Cabaret marks another milestone in what is quickly becoming an exciting performance career.
As Park steps onto a New York stage, he carries with him not only his own ambitions but also the support of an ECU community proud to see one of its students pursuing his passion with courage, determination, and talent.
East Central University wishes Adam the very best as he takes this exciting step toward his future in the performing arts.
