Ensembles

At ECU, our bands and instrumental ensembles are open to all students—music majors and non-majors alike—who want to be part of the vibrant musical life on campus. These performance groups offer students the chance to collaborate, grow artistically, and create lifelong memories through music.

Participating in an ensemble is a powerful way to enrich your university experience—whether you’re preparing for a career in music or simply pursuing your passion.

Brass Ensemble

The ECU Brass Ensemble is dedicated to performing brass literature spanning all periods of music history. Students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of repertoire and may perform in both small chamber groups (such as quartets) and larger brass ensemble settings.

Whether you're a music major or simply passionate about brass performance, this ensemble offers a dynamic and enriching experience.

Percussion Ensemble

The ECU Percussion Ensembles form the core of the university’s percussion program, offering students a variety of performance opportunities across multiple styles and ensemble formats.

Open to all percussion students in the ECU Band Program, this group performs up to four concerts per year, focusing on both conducted and non-conducted chamber works from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Percussion Group

A select chamber ensemble for music majors only, this group performs advanced, non-conducted works written for 2 to 6 players.

Marimba

A crowd favorite, this ensemble specializes in xylophone ragtime music of the 1920s, and regularly performs both on campus and at community and corporate events.

The ECU Percussion Ensembles are frequent performers at the Oklahoma Percussion Festival and ECU Day of Percussion.

Steel Pan Ensemble

Bringing Caribbean Sound to Oklahoma

The ECU Steel Pan Ensemble is an outreach performance group inspired by the traditional competition bands of Trinidad and Tobago. With 8–10 players and nearly 20 steel pans, this group performs a lively mix of:

  • Traditional calypso and soca

  • Popular and contemporary music

Made up of students from nearly every college across the university, the ensemble is a diverse, high-energy group that brings musical flair to campus events, community performances & regional and national events.

The Steel Pan Ensemble is one of ECU’s most versatile and engaging performing groups—bringing rhythm, culture, and energy to every stage.
