Shirley Mixon

Dr. Shirley Mixon earned her Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration with an emphasis in Business and an M.S. in Business Education from Oklahoma State University. She earned a B.S. in Business Education from Grambling State University of Louisiana. Mixon’s current area of interest is interdisciplinary studies. Dr. Mixon, a professor within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Science, is currently the Director of the General Studies Program at East Central University. This is a program designed to help students complete a degree within an online format. Since 2010, Dr. Mixon has served on the executive board of the Oklahoma Women in Higher Education. She is the secretary for this state organization and also represents ECU at all OKWHE meetings. During her tenure at East Central University, Dr. Mixon has held the position of Reach Higher Coordinator, Department Chair of Business Education and Office Technology and the Parker Ethics Professor. Additionally, she continues to serve on numerous university, community and state committees and organizations.
