Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences
East Central University (ECU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and visionary leader to guide a college committed to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
About the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences:
The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at East Central University includes the School of Fine Arts, which encompasses programs in Art, Mass Communication, Performing Arts, and Music. The College also comprises the Departments of English and Languages, History, Native American Studies, Politics, Law, & Society, Professional Programs in Human Services (including Human Services Counseling, Criminal Justice, and Social Work), and Interdisciplinary Studies.
Responsibilities:
The Dean's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Supervision of faculty and clerical staff.
• Planning, coordinating, and managing the College’s budget.
• Program assessment and program review.
• Strategic planning for the College.
• Faculty recruitment, evaluation, and retention.
• Representing the College to external organizations.
• Coordination of external funding initiatives.
• Teaching six semester hours annually.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in one of the disciplines within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, have previous college teaching experience, and a minimum of five years of successful administrative experience at the department chair level or above.
The Dean must possess effective leadership and management skills, demonstrable teaching abilities, and scholarly/creative achievements that meet the standards for appointment in one of the departments within the College. Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellence in teaching are essential.
