Job Title:  Director of Alumni Relations

Reports to:  COO ECU Foundation

FLSA:  Exempt

 

The Office of Alumni Relations in collaboration with the East Central University Alumni Association, and the ECU Foundation strives to build lifelong relationships with the students, alumni and friends of East Central University through extensive programming initiatives on the campus as well as in other areas where East Central alumni and friends work and live. The director reports to the Chief Operating Officer of the ECU Foundation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

• Directs and supervises day-to-day activities of the alumni relations department.

 

• Serves and works as a member of the Advancement, Foundation, and Alumni Relations division team and assists in friend-raising, fund-raising, student recruiting, public relations and related activities as directed.

 

• Establishes and implements short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program and service initiatives and needed changes required for improvement.

 

• Develops and manages the annual budget for the office of Alumni Relations.

 

• Supports the ECU Alumni Association and its satellite chapters’ programs and functions. Utilizes the ECU Alumni Association Board of Directors for brainstorming and guidance.

 

• Plans, coordinates, supports and attends all alumni events.

 

• Supports and attends Foundation events.

 

• Attends all ECU Alumni Association Executive Committee and general membership meetings as needed and invited.

 

• Attends all ECU Foundation meetings as needed and invited.

 

• Creates and develops avenues of communication for all university alumni, including the publishing of an ECU Alumni Newsletter and/or Magazine.

 

• Continually enhances and maintains the department and Association’s online presence through website and social media.

 

• Cultivates local, regional, state, and nationwide alumni relationships for positive and ongoing involvement with the University.

 

• Exceeds the membership enrollment and annual revenue goals through direct mail, telephone solicitation, email solicitation, and other effective methods. Develops, maintains and manages fulfillment of member services and benefits in concert with the ECU Alumni Association leadership.

 

• Develops and implements the membership marketing plan. Provides leadership in creating new, innovative approaches and solutions in marketing strategy, production and planning processes. Monitors results of membership marketing and provides analysis as appropriate. Ensures that all marketing materials properly reflect the East Central University and ECU Alumni Association brands.

 

• Monitors all aspects of data integrity and collateral management of the Alumni Database

 

• Other duties as assigned.

• Must have knowledge of membership acquisition, retention and reactivation strategies.

 

• Must have the ability to recruit, train and motivate alumni volunteers at regional and national levels.

 

• Must have the ability to develop and execute short-term and long-range strategic plans.

 

• Must have the ability to organize a variety of projects and priorities.

 

• Must have the ability to communicate effectively.

 

• Must maintain confidentiality.

 

• Must have the ability to travel and to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

 

• Must have experience in development and management of budgets, with multiple sources of revenue and interrelated expenses.

 

• Must have the ability to effectively supervise personnel, and complete all associated personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner.

 

• Must have experience with multiple areas of social media.

 

• Preference will be given to candidates with Blackbaud database experience.

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree and three years of work experience or a master’s degree and two years of work experience in higher education alumni programs, related higher education programs such as public information or admissions, fund-raising, not-for-profit, or sales and marketing preferred. Demonstrated experience working with volunteers; proven communication skills; and excellent interpersonal, organizational and managerial skills are highly desired.

Salary: $50,000
