PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research supports East Central University (ECU) by promoting an institutional culture that facilitates scholarly research and grant development/management efforts of faculty, staff, and students in an ethical and fiscally-responsible manner.
POSITION SUMMARY:
To coordinate award and post-award functions within the organization's grants management lifecycle; act as a liaison between internal and external project stakeholders and funding agencies; provide support for project implementation; and ensure compliance with grant regulations. Applicants must have a passion for their work, be innovative, and possess strong verbal and written communication and analytic skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
* Three years of related work experience. Education may be substituted for years of experience.
* Demonstrated track record of working in grant management, preferably in a similar academic or research institution, nonprofit organization, or government agency. This experience should include post-award grant administration.
* Familiarity with federal, state, and institutional regulations pertaining to grants and sponsored research is highly preferred.
* Experience navigating compliance requirements, such as those from funding agencies like NIH, NSF, USDA, ODAFF, EDA, OBO, U.S. Dept. of Ed., or private foundations.
* Experience managing subawards, contracts, and agreements associated with grants is an advantage.
* Familiarity with grant closeout procedures, including final reporting, equipment/property disposition, and financial reconciliation, is a plus.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively liaising with researchers, funding agencies, and internal stakeholders.
* Given the multifaceted nature of grant management, candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills to handle multiple grants concurrently and meet deadlines.
In addition to the above requirements, the ideal candidate should possess a strong attention to detail and a deep understanding of grant regulations to ensure meticulous compliance. A proactive and organized approach is highly valued, as it allows for the efficient management of multiple grants simultaneously. Additionally, candidates should exhibit a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving grant-related policies and procedures.
