NASNTI REACHE Data Specialist

 

East Central University invites applications for the position of Data Specialist for ECU’s Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions - Resources to Enhance Achievement and Completion in Higher Education (REACHE) Program. The NASNTI REACHE program is designed to 1) improve Native American and Low-income student persistence and graduation rates through increased access to academic programs and enhanced learning environments; 2) improve participating student outcomes through targeted student services; and 3) increase Native American and low income students’ opportunities for high-impact educational experiences. The Data Specialist, a 5-year, grant-funded position, is primarily responsible for grant related data gathering, database management, data interpretation, and reporting.

ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts, business, education, mathematics, sciences, nursing, and the social sciences; and six master's degrees in accounting, education, human resources, psychology, management, and water resources. Additionally, 20 degree programs hold specialty accreditation, and approximately 65% of the 147 full-time faculty hold doctorates. ECU's 3,600 (average) students come from 35 countries and 22 different states. ECU’s mission is to educate and empower students to understand and transform our world.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Data Specialist will be responsible for creating and maintaining a database of Native American and low-income undergraduate students, will gather data, organize it and build reports to help stakeholders make informed, effective decisions to better equip the REACHE Program in helping students achieve their goals. Will work with students to address advising, financial aid, and career goal needs. Will maintain the website for REACHE, coordinate the faculty professional development focused on remote learning, and will serve as mentor to the Native American Student Association.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analysis, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Education, or related field required. Ability to collect, process, interpret outcomes, and perform statistical analysis on large datasets. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Access and Excel. Ability to create a data-driven methodology to assist in making informed and effective decisions to improve the retention and graduation rates of the identified target population. Ability to identify with and relate to Native American and low-income students. Ability to develop, implement and evaluate new programs, to make presentations to multiple audiences, and to articulate the academic needs of the students and how to access resources. Ability to partner with others to accomplish project goals. Understanding of needs of Native American and low-income students, equity gaps, and intervention/outcome measures to drive course redesign and professional development. Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills. Skills and knowledge of providing academic services to students. Knowledge of first-year advising preferred.
