Job Title:   Student Resource Coordinator

Summary:

The Student Resource Coordinator serves as a navigator for new and existing Students facing personal and academic challenges, and shares information with students, colleagues, and other interested parties that promote student success, retention, and graduation. The Student Resource Coordinator creates an access point for Students in need of resources provided by the University and the community at large. This position creates a culture of learning and engagement for students by applying student development theories and learning outcomes in coordination with available services that promote students' academic and personal success, thereby increasing student satisfaction and student retention. This position works closely with the Dean of Students, and the Assistant Dean of Students and has oversight for issues related to resource management, retention, and crisis management relating to overall Student success and satisfaction.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Possess the ability to interpret and explain complex policies and procedures.

• Possess the ability to maintain a high level of communication skills and work well with a diverse group of people.

• Possess a high degree of personal/professional integrity, respect for privacy and confidentiality.

• Possess the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, faculty, parents and staff.

• Serve on the Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation (C.A.R.E.) Team.

• Provide direct outreach and case management services; assessing Student’s academic/personal situations, strengths, assets and barriers to determine what services are required to meet their needs.

• Serve as a liaison between students, providers, faculty, families, advisors and other university personnel.

• Assist the C.A.R.E. Team with providing referrals for crisis intervention and advocacy services to students.

• Assist faculty and staff with responding to students in crisis.

• Coordinate and provide resources that are timely, effective, efficient, and Student centered.

• Partner with student organizations and activities to promote student engagement.

• Collaborate and effectively communicate with a variety of University stakeholders, both internal and external.

• Assist the Dean of Students and Assistant Dean of Students in providing direction and intervention for students in crisis and non-crisis, including but not limited to intervening with mental health staff, providing victim advocacy, and working with staff and students.

• Assist in providing guidance in analysis, review, creation and interpretation of student policies and procedures.

• Assist with retention outreach and strategic planning.

• Serve on University committees as needed.

• Support the goals of the University’s mission, vision and strategic plan.

• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.

• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community.

• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act in an ethically and socially responsible manner.

• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner.

• Must be able to lift more than 20-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.

• Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students or designee. The omission of specific statement of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred in the area of Educational Leadership, Counseling, or closely related field.

• Demonstrated effectiveness as a culturally competent professional with broad experience interacting with and supporting the needs of a diverse student population.

• A high level of collegiality in working with other student affairs units as well as campus and community constituencies along with the ability to build collaborative relationships characterized by mutual respect, trust, and commitment to shared goals. Integrity, creativity, energy, and decisiveness along with the capacity to engage and inspire others.

• Excellence as a manager of complex organizational processes, heavy reliance on assessment data to inform decisions, superb professional development skills. • Effectiveness in meeting priorities and deadlines to ensure project goals and objectives are met.

• Sensitive, diplomatic, and highly articulate in written and verbal communications with all constituencies.

• Well-developed skills in assessing organizational effectiveness and identifying areas of strength as well as needs for improvement.
