1. What is the GPA requirement for admission to a degree program at East Central University’s School of Graduate Study?
Each program determines its GPA requirement:
- Master of Education
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 on all undergraduate coursework to date.
- All Other Graduate Programs
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on all undergraduate coursework to date.
2. Does the School of Graduate Studies require a GRE?
- The GRE is not required for admission to any graduate programs at ECU.
3. Can I take Graduate classes as an undergraduate?
- A senior student who lacks less than a full normal study load and who has completed a minimum of one hundred (100) credit hours may be permitted to enroll in courses applicable to a Graduate Degree Program, subject to the following study load provisions:
Fall and Spring Semesters
1. A maximum of nine (9) undergraduate and six (6) graduate credit hours; or
2. A maximum of twelve (12) undergraduate and three (3) graduate credit hours.
Summer Semester
1. A maximum of three (3) undergraduate and three (3) graduate credit hours; or
2. A maximum of six (6) graduate credit hours.
Note: No more than six (6) hours in a semester or three (3) in a summer term may be applied to a graduate degree.
4. What are the hours for Full-Time and Overload?
Fall/Spring
- 9 hrs is full-time
- 5-8 hrs is required for financial aid
- 13 16 hrs - Graduate Dean approval required
- Regents Absolute Maximum - 16 hrs (Requires Academic Affairs)
Summer
- 5 hrs is required for financial aid
- 3 hrs is half-time
- 11-15 hrs - Graduate Dean approval required
- Regents Absolute Maximum - 15 hrs (Requires Academic Affairs approval)
5. What are the Financial Aid Regulations for Graduate Students?
- Students, please be advised that the courses you choose to enroll in MUST be a required course or an elective course in your degree program. Financial Aid regulations dictate that any graduate student who is seeking financial aid must be enrolled in AT LEAST five (5) credit hours during the fall, spring, or summer semester and the courses MUST be in the degree program.
- Certificate Programs do not qualify for financial aid.
