Brad Henry International Scholar Program

The Brad Henry International Scholars Program provides an opportunity to undergraduate students attending Oklahoma’s public regional universities to participate in a semester of study abroad at the University of Wales in Swansea (Swansea University). The scholarship may be used to cover the cost of tuition, fees, accommodations, books, materials, and travel expenses relating to the study abroad program.

Scholarship Eligibility

Brad Henry International Scholars must meet the following criteria at the time of nomination and at the time of participation:

• be at least 18 years of age;
• be an undergraduate student from an Oklahoma regional university;
• be an Oklahoma resident;
• be enrolled full-time at the nominating institution;
• be in good academic standing at the nominating institution;
• have a minimum GPA of 2.5;
• have completed at least 30 hours of college coursework/credits, not including concurrent enrollment or AP coursework/testing; and
• have submitted information, documents, acknowledgments, releases and authorizations as required by the program.

Spring 2025 Program Costs

The scholarship pays for tuition, fees and accommodation (up to Medium Ensuite in Bay Campus) for 23 weeks. Food, textbooks, airfare, passports and any other expenses are the student’s responsibility; however, the OSRHE provides each student a $1,500 stipend to help with these expenses.

• Tuition and Fees: £8,400 GBP
• Room and Board*: £3,381 GBP
• Stipend: $1,500

Note: The Room and Board scholarship only covers up to the Medium Ensuite in Bay Campus. Any accommodation expense above that will be the responsibility of the students traveling abroad.

Application Information

• Fill out the application found in the link below and submit applications to Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya (goglobal@ecok.edu) by Noon on September 9, 2024 for consideration.
• Applications will be reviewed by the Global Education Committee to narrow applications for interviews on Friday, September 14th.
• All applications should reserve 2:30 – 4:30 on September 14th to meet in-person with the Global Education committee.
• The committee will make the recommendation to the President shortly thereafter so the OSHRE can be notified of ECU’s representative prior to the September 20, 2024 deadline.

The scholarship award winners will be expected to participate in ECU’s Annual Go Global event to help promote the travel abroad programs each fall.
