Next Steps for International Students

 

1. Watch for Your Welcome Email

• Within 2–3 days of being admitted, you'll receive an email titled "Welcome to ECU! Some Next Steps!" at the email address you used on your admission application.
• This email will include instructions for accessing your ECU student account.
  
  

2.  Set Up Your ECU Account

• Obtain your Student ID number.
• Set up your ECU email account and password.
  
  

3.  Obtain a U.S. VISA

• Pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee.
• Apply for a Visa and schedule your interview.
  
  

4.  Release your SEVIS Record (Transfer students only)

5.  Apply for Housing and Choose a Meal Plan (if applicable)

• Complete your housing application and select a meal plan if you plan to live on campus.
• Check out the housing webpage.
  
  

6.  Enroll in Classes

• Registration instructions will be emailed to you when course enrollment opens.
  
  

7. Resources

• Visit the Office of International Student Services webpage
• Refer to the International Student Information Packet.
  
  

10. Check Your ECU Email Regularly

• Continue monitoring your ECU email for important updates, deadlines, and next steps before classes begin.
