Honors Program
The ECU Honors Program offers enhanced educational opportunities and tuition fee waivers to bright, motivated students. Honors students have access to smaller, discussion-based classes starting their first semester on campus, and starting their second semester, Honors students benefit from priority housing and enrollment dates.
The Honors Student Association is one of the most active student organizations on campus. Every fall, incoming Honors students participate in a Sorting Hat Ceremony and join one of four Honors houses that compete throughout the year for the Honors House Cup. In recent years, Honors students have also enjoyed group trips to Mexico City, New Orleans, Chicago, New York, Boston, and San Francisco, in addition to our regular spring Global Faiths Tour in Oklahoma.
Upper-division Honors students work on one-on-one with professors on individualized projects or theses in their majors. Recent graduates of the program have been succeeded in graduate and medical school programs at Dartmouth, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, and the University of Alabama's College of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics, in addition to graduate, medical, and professional programs in Oklahoma and neighboring states.
Qualified high school applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and either an ACT composite score of 24 or higher OR 12 college credit hours with a 3.5 grade point average or higher. Candidates must also participate in an interview.
Qualified continuing and transfer students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.3 and recommendations from two faculty members.
