ADA, Okla. – East Central University’s Evening of Honors and Recognition is set to recognize distinguished persons on May 10 in the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center. 

The 2024 Distinguished Former Faculty honorees include former dean of the college of Health and Sciences, Dr. Bruce Weems, who served at ECU for 43 years and former Oklahoma State Senator, Billie Floyd, who taught at ECU for 31 years.

The 2024 Distinguished Alumni to be honored include:

•    Dr. Charles Burchell (1963) who pursued a long-standing career in higher education after his time at ECU.
•    Frankie Crawford (1985) who serves as president for Crawford & Associates, P.C., Certified Public Accountants.
•    Duane Murray (1972) who went on to establish the Murray/Wamble Insurance Agency in Tulsa, OK.
•    Dr. JudyLee Oliva (1975) who became a renowned freelance playwright, actress, lyricist and director of plays at academic, community and professional venues.

The 2024 Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Chris Feiler (1980) for his long term role as Public Relations Officer for Citizens Bank of Ada and his dedicated work with and for the local community. 

The 2024 Distinguished Family to be honored is the W. W. and Lelia Reid (Billie) Stephenson Family for their long standing history and contributions to ECU as individuals and a family.
