Oklahoma Arts Council staff will return to Ada Monday [MAY 17] to partner with East Central University for a follow-up session to their May 4 Town Hall Meeting for the Arts.
The meeting will be a forum focusing on arts education. Bridget Forshay, ECU community development coordinator, will help facilitate the meeting from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Regents Room of ECU's Memorial Student Union.
Michael Eddens, the council's director of arts education programs, said the forum will have a more specific focus than the May 4 meeting.
"The purpose of this forum will be to address arts education grants in depth and to identify arts learning assets in the area," he said.
Eddens said identifying assets will help those involved in arts learning in the area share resources and extend their capacity so that they can better meet their goals.
He will highlight grants and services available through the agency for arts education in schools and arts learning in communities. A presentation of a model arts education program will be provided and attendees will have the opportunity to share about their involvement with arts learning while finding out about other arts education activities going on in the area.
Educators, arts organizations, artists, community organizations and other interested individuals are invited to attend the free forum, which will close with a discussion about arts education advocacy.
To register for the forum, contact Bridget Forshay at 580-559-5296 or bforshay@ecok.edu.
