The Ada Artists Association scholarship is awarded to East Central University art student Marumi Abe (left) of Saitama, Japan. Dr. Brad Jessop, chair of the Art Department, congratulates Abe during the annual art awards reception in the University Gallery. The award was based on Abe's portfolio performance in the 54th Annual Student Exhibition.

 

Eli Casiano (left) of Ada, an art student at East Central University, is congratulated by Dr. Brad Jessop, chair of the Art Department, for receiving the Leon Polk Smith Scholarship in the junior class. The scholarship, named for Oklahoma's best known artist and ECU graduate, is given to the outstanding artist in each class. The presentation was made during the annual art awards reception in the University Gallery. The award was based on Casiano's portfolio performance in the 54th Annual Student Exhibition.

 

East Central University art student Scott Johnson (left) of Holdenville receives the R. Grant Thorp Scholarship from Dr. Brad Jessop, chair of the Art Department. The scholarship is awarded to a prodigious student who also demonstrates a dedication to service of others. It was endowed by family and friends of Thorp, an art professor at ECU from 1979 until his untimely death in 1994, to continue the educational tradition of his life. The presentation was made during the annual art awards reception in the University Gallery. The award was based on Johnson's portfolio performance in the 54th Annual Student Exhibition.

 

The Chair's Award for Excellence from East Central University's Department of Art is presented to art student Josh Mullennex (left) of Shawnee. Congratulating Mullennex is Dr. Brad Jessop, chair of the department. The presentation was made during the annual art awards reception in the University Gallery. The cash award was based on Mullennex's portfolio performance in the 54th Annual Student Exhibition.
