Five astronomy viewings are scheduled in October and November at East Central University's observatory northeast of Norris Field.
The evening schedule includes a viewing of the Moon and Jupiter from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 [TUESDAY], the Andromeda galaxy and Jupiter from 8 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, the Moon and Jupiter from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 and Venus and Jupiter from 6 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 20.
One morning session, from 6 to 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 28, will feature Saturn with its rings.
The viewings are sponsored by ECU's Astronomy Club and are open to the public. Parking is available in the Physical Plant parking lot northeast of the football stadium off Stadium Drive. A 100-foot walk up a hill is necessary to reach the observatory.
The viewings will be cancelled if it's cloudy or raining.
"If you're in doubt, don't come," said Dr. Carl Rutledge, the Astronomy Club adviser. More information is available from Rutledge at 559-5392.
