ADA, Okla. – Each year, the Bret D. Isenhower Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an East Central University service member in honor of Sergeant Bret D. Isenhower’s memory.
Lieutenant Charles J. Brooks embodies the values and standards that Isenhower upheld. Both men share not only a commitment to excellence but also a background as ECU attendees, Oklahoma Army National Guard Infantrymen and Pi Kappa Alpha members.
Isenhower was known for putting others and his country first. Although he is remembered as a fallen soldier, his impact continues to be felt today. From Oklahoma to Washington D.C., his leadership, selflessness, and sacrifice endure.
His sister, Krysten Isenhower, has honorably continued his legacy. She has taken up the mantle of keeping his memory alive, passionately organizing a 5k run to support the scholarship established in his name.
“Congratulations to Lieutenant Charles J. Brooks on receiving the scholarship,” said Roger Busse, Director of Veterans Upward Bound. “Keep up the good work.”
