East Central University’s Dr. Allen Correll, with the help of area directors, is organizing and conducting a summer community band.
“There are many former wind and percussion students in the Ada area that have expressed an interest in a community band,” said Correll.
The community band will consist of adults, who are former band members, and current high school and college band students.
The community band will meet for rehearsals on Monday nights, May 13-June 24 (except for May 27) from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a concert scheduled for Sunday, June 30 at 3 p.m. inside the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center on the ECU campus. Following the concert there will be an ice cream social in the lobby of the fine arts center.
A summer community jazz orchestra will be rehearsing on those same Mondays from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
