The Linscheid Library at East Central University is proud to host the upcoming Davis Book Talk featuring Dr. Elisabeth Davis, author and historian. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 16th at 3:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Linscheid Library.

Dr. Davis will present her compelling book, Catholic Sisters, Narratives of Authority, and the Native American Boarding Schools, 1847–1918. The work offers a deep exploration of the roles Catholic sisters played in the assimilation of Indigenous children into white culture through their work in boarding schools.

Emily Suzanne Clark of Gonzaga University praised the book as:

"An astute study of how Catholic sisters worked to assimilate Indigenous children to white culture. Elisabeth C. Davis walks readers through the sisters' tactics for assimilation, their challenges, their reliance upon their religious authority, and how they measured successful assimilation."

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from Dr. Davis about her research process, key findings, and the historical significance of the narratives uncovered. A Q&A session and book signing will follow the talk.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
