The East Central University College of Education and Psychology will celebrate the opening of its remodeled building with a formal dedication, ribbon-cutting and tours, beginning at 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1.
The dedication, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, will take place next door in the atrium of the Linscheid Library at 4 p.m. Tours of the remodeled facility will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“We would like to extend an invitation to alumni; past, current and future teachers and the public in general,” said Dr. Brenda Sherbourne, dean of the ECU College of Education and Psychology. “This inviting, modern facility will certainly enhance the learning process for our education and psychology students with state-of-the art technology.”
One of the many, new and exciting features of the updated Education Building is an innovative teaching center, installed with the latest technology, as well as tablets and robotics equipment for professional development for area teachers, education faculty and education students.
Other amenities include 13 classrooms with new technology, with short-throw projectors (which makes every whiteboard a smartboard), new speakers and new podiums. The facility also features new seating in the computer lab, along with new faculty desks and office furniture.
Additionally, three classrooms have additional monitors installed on the walls for better visibility of projected images and all classrooms have WiFi capabilities for use of mobile devices in the classroom.
