The importance of reading and libraries will be the focus through a poster campaign titled “Ada Reads.”
East Central University’s Linscheid Library and the Ada Public Library are working together to stress the importance of reading through a campaign which features posters of community members and ECU students and faculty with their favorite books along with a quote about why they love that book.
A new poster will debut each month at both libraries and various locations in the community. The campaign is sponsored by the Ada Public Library Friends and the Linscheid Library Academic Friends.
The idea for the campaign originated with ECU’s new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Carol Linder, whose previous institution completed a similar campaign.
“I’m so excited to be part of this community campaign,” says Linscheid Library Director Dana Belcher, “Reading- visually, audibly, or tactilely—opens the door to endless possibilities.”
Ada Public Library Director, Jolene Poore says, “I think the author of the Harry Potter series, J. K. Rowling, may have said it best. ‘If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book. And with today’s technology, expanding your horizons through “reading” is limited only by your imagination’.”
The first poster in the campaign features Gavin Kloski, son of ECU student Amanda Kloski.
