ADA – Dr. Stacey Bolin, assistant professor of business administration in East Central University’s Harland C. Stonecipher School of Business, has been named a regional recipient of the 2016 Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Teaching Excellence Award. Dr. Bolin is also the director of the Wilburn L. Smith Center for Entrepreneurship.
“I’m excited and honored to receive the ACBSP Region 6 Teaching Excellence Award,” Dr. Bolin said. “To be selected from a group of talented and inspirational professors is an honor.”
Dr. Bolin will receive the award, which includes a medallion and a $250 check, at the ACBSP Conference, June 17-20, at Atlanta, Georgia. As a regional recipient, she is candidate for an International Teaching Excellence Award which will also be announced at the June conference.
“Stacey has demonstrated excellence in the classroom and in the programs that she is engaged in at East Central University. Dr. Bolin has combined her education with 10 years of industry experience to bring innovation and fresh ideas into the classroom,” said Dr. Charlie C. Jones, Chair, Department of Business Administration at ECU. She consistently delivers the highest student teaching effectiveness scores in our school (4.82/5.00 average over the last two years). Her classroom experience reflects her individual creativity to create a highly engaged classroom learning experience. Her students are assigned self-designed, innovative assignments, complete group projects, and embark on field trips to enhance the classroom experience while also delivering on specific student outcomes.
In 2002, the ACBSP Baccalaureate Degree Commission created an award to recognize excellence in teaching at the baccalaureate/graduate degree level. ACBSP is the only specialized body for business schools that presents an award recognizing excellence in teaching, open to application by the entire membership.
“It is more important than ever for business programs to produce graduates who are ready to enter the global marketplace,” said ACBSP Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Alderman. “ACBSP has a mission to develop, promote and recognize best practices that contribute to continuous improvement of business education. Recognition of teaching excellence is one way we achieve this goal.”
ACBSP Region 6 includes Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana. This is the second consecutive year an ECU professor has received this award. Dr. Tom Zeni was the 2015 recipient.
