Russian pianist Arsentiy Kharitonov will perform at 6 p.m. Thursday [OCT. 30] at the Ada Arts & Heritage Center, 14th and Rennie.
The concert is free and sponsored by East Central University's Music Department.
A native of Stary Oskol, Russia, Kharitonov has performed in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Netherlands, Germany, Finland and the United States.
He has won numerous competitions including the 2004 and 2006 Northwestern State University Concerto Competition, the 2005 Monroe Symphony League Concerto Competition, the 2005 Louisiana State Piano Competition and 2003 "Slavic Music" Competition in Ukraine.
Kharitonov was a third-prize winner at the Rachmaninoff Piano Competition in Russia. He received a diploma at Peter the Great Festival in the Netherlands and won a prize at the Beethoven Piano Sonata competition in Memphis, Tenn.
He has performed with the St. Petersburg Youth Orchestra in Grand Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Northwestern Symphony Orchestra and the Monroe (La.) Symphony. In 2006, he was invited to play a recital at the Finland Consulate in St. Petersburg, Russia.
He studied piano from age four through graduation in 1997 at the Central Music School of Stary Oskol and studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College in St. Petersburg, Russia. He received a bachelor's degree this year in music performance at Northwestern State University in Louisiana and currently studies with Joseph Banowetz at University of North Texas.
