Hands-on and visual demonstrations of water and environment-related issues helped students focus on the importance of water to society and local communities during the seventh Annual Ada Water Festival/Earth Day at East Central University.
ECU, the City of Ada and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Robert S. Kerr Environmental Research Center jointly sponsored the event on April 22. It annually hosts an estimated 400 area K-12 and ECU students.
"The Environmental Health Science Department looks forward to co-hosting this program every year," said ECU professor and event co-founder Dr. Guy Sewell. "It really gives our majors and faculty a chance to speak to area students about the importance of water to our daily lives and how to use resources sustainably."
Earth Day t-shirts and hotdogs sales raised more than $400 for the ECU Environmental Health Sciences Club.
