East Central University is leveling up its community engagement this summer with the launch of its first-ever ECU Tiger Esports Summer Camp, a unique opportunity designed to introduce students to the rapidly growing world of Esports and the careers that support it.
Set for July 22–25, the camp will run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will take place on ECU’s campus. Open to high school students interested in gaming and technology, the camp will provide hands-on experiences and insights into Esports career paths, including PC building, tournament organizing, broadcasting, and game design.
“Our summer camp is unique in that we will be focused on the careers within Esports these students may go into." said Cody Soden, ECU’s Esports Director. “Our goal is to expose campers to the full ecosystem that surrounds competitive gaming and inspire the next generation of industry professionals.”
The ECU Tiger Esports program has quickly made a name for itself, boasting over 40 student participants and earning a national championship title within just a few years of its founding. The program competes across multiple games at the collegiate level and emphasizes competition, community and scholarship.
Registration for the camp is now open at $100 per student, with limited spots available. Early sign-up is encouraged due to expected high demand.
In addition to educating future leaders, ECU is also looking to involve the broader community. Sponsorship opportunities are available for local businesses or individuals looking to support this initiative.
