ADA, Okla. – East Central University Showtime is excited to present, “Tom ‘n Huck” Nov. 7-9 in the Ataloa Theatre located inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center. Shows will begin nightly at 7:30 p.m.
“Tom ‘n Huck” is written by Craig Sodaro, based on the classic characters from Mark Twain’s historic novels. The play is directed by ECU’s Vickie Reifsnider.
Tom Sawyer (Barrick Scribner), Huck Finn (Chason Abel), and other beloved Mark Twain characters come to life in this all-American adventure.
When Tom and Huck are wrongly accused of stealing Becky Thatcher's (Delaney Rutherford) gold necklace, they flee to the swamp. The real thief, Herman Cornwallis (Spencer Scott), is thrilled, giving him more time to pursue Becky. In the swamp, the boys meet Mary Meechum (Madyson Bonner), who is believed to be a witch. Together, they overhear the shady Slade Sisters (Brittini Wall and Shelby Davis) plotting to scam the town and witness a murder.
Tom, Huck and Mary work together to save the town and clear their names. With humor, engaging roles, and simple sets, this play showcases classic Americana.
The rest of the cast includes Laylee Abel (Aunt Polly), Peyton Leu (Widder Douglas), Glennon Selke (Cousin Ezra), Carson Crisp (Mike Carter), Lillee Abel (Elly Carter), Lynlee Abel (Carter Child), Blaire Evans (Tina), Ella Fulton (Patty), Elizabeth Taylor (Gretchen), Jeff Ray (Judge Thatcher), Kaylee Hacker (Rose Thatcher), Evelyn Davis (Mrs. Cornwallis), John Roberts (Mr. Weeks), Brianna-Jo Davis (Mrs. Weeks), Brody Rogers (Sheriff McDuff), Boomer Hoover (Mr. Carter), Will Pope (Mr. Wittenbaum), Trevor Barton (Nick Pike) and Adam Park (Mr. Tettler).
