A mystery in which two women vie for the affections of an opera producer will be presented this week at East Central University.
"Type O Negative," written and directed by ECU faculty member Dr. Bret Jones, will run Thursday through Saturday [NOV. 29, 30 & DEC. 1] in the Black Box Theatre in Science Hall. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. The play is free to the public but seating is limited.
The production is a senior project for Catie Caton and Kelli Lowe.
In the play, Peggy Forrester, the opera producer's ex-wife, has set up an elaborate hoax to make the producer's new fling, Dana Kennedy, believe that Peggy has killed her. The end of Act One has Dana passing out on the couch with the audience believing that Peggy has killed her rival.
Act Two opens four months later with a very much alive Dana in Peggy's apartment. When Dana realized that a hoax had been played on her, she set out to create one of her own. She has Peggy believing that the producer has been killed, with all evidence pointing toward Peggy.
With the two now "even" with each other, there is no alternative for them but murder -for each other.
