ADA – East Central University’s Oklahoma Business Week has garnered another award.
OBW, which introduces high school students to the business world in a week-long camp during the summer on the ECU campus, recently received the Association for Continuing Higher Education’s 2013 Distinguished Program: Non-Credit Award, in Lexington, Ky. Stacey Bolin, director of OBW, and Charlee Lanis, coordinator of ECU’s Community Education Program, were on hand to receive that honor.
Last spring, OBW garnered the Exceptional Program Award for Best Conference in the Great Plains Region of the Association for Continuing Higher Education. Bolin and Lanis were on hand to receive that honor in Manhattan, Kan., as well.
The second annual OBW was conducted last June.
Students attending OBW are divided into teams. Each team has a volunteer mentor from the Oklahoma business community who works with the students in developing a ‘company’ to learn about business practices and compete in a simulated business challenge.
The Third Annual Oklahoma Business Week Camp is set for June 1-6, 2014. Students who are currently ninth-12th graders are eligible to apply. Applications are now being accepted and available at www.okbusweek.com.
