ADA, Okla. – For the second year in a row, East Central University proudly announces the return of Tiger Tangles: Part Deux. The event is set for Friday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. inside the Ataloa Theatre, located inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
Tiger Tangles is a talent show featuring ECU students that traces its origins as far back as the 1950’s, under a variety of names. It was rechristened with the Tiger Tangles moniker in the early 1960’s and quickly became a cherished staple on the ECU campus until the late 1990’s.
“As a student in the 1980’s, Tiger Tangles was always a highlight of the spring semester,” said ECU President Wendell Godwin. “If you ask any alumni from the 1950’s – 1990’s, I bet you would get a chuckle and a big smile when reflecting about the past shows. The serious acts were amazing and there was always that one act where you might ask, how did they get on stage? The unintended comedy was the best part as a fraternity might reenact a song from the Blues’ Brothers. It was a great night of entertainment filled with a good belly laugh.”
The talent show made its triumphant return in 2024 with more than 900 students, alumni and community members filling the Ataloa Theatre to watch 20 separate student performances.
Students will compete in four categories: Greek Group Act, Club/Organization Act, Independent Group Act and Solo Act.
Cash prizes, totaling $5,000, will be given to the top three places for each category, with the overall winner and crowd choice winner receiving an additional $500 each.
Godwin added, “We are excited to bring Tiger Tangles back for the second year and after last year’s success, I am sure the event will sell out, so get your tickets early! This is a great opportunity to showcase the amazing talents of our students.”
General admission tickets are $10.
ECU students, staff and faculty receive free admission with their university ID.
