Cellist Diane Bucchianeri and pianist Stuart Deaver will play sonatas by Beethoven and Rachmaninov Oct. 4 [SUNDAY] at East Central University.
They will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.
On the program are Beethoven's "Sonata No. 2 for Piano and Cello in G minor, Op.5" and Rachmaninov's "Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 19."
Diane Bucchianeri performed with chamber ensembles and orchestras in the United States, France, Poland, Germany, Costa Rica, Mexico and South America before joining the faculty of the University of Tulsa as an assistant professor of cello.

She is a member of Trio Tulsa, the ensemble in residence at TU, and can be heard with Trio Tulsa on three CDs, "Music of Bohuslav Martinu," "Manuel Ponce Chamber Music" and "A Vision of Hills, Chamber Music of Gwyneth Walker."
Bucchianeri has been principal cellist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica and the Regional Orchestra of the Auvergne in France, associate principal cellist of the Tulsa Philharmonic and a member of the Mexico City Philharmonic and the Charlotte Symphony.
She has taught at the Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil in Costa Rica, the University of Costa Rica and Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. In 2007 she joined the faculty of Tulsa's Barthelmes Conservatory, a preparatory school dedicated to providing excellence in musical training for the young.
She graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with bachelor of music and master of music degrees in performance. Her principal teachers were Irving Klein, David Wells and Maurice Gendron.
Dr. Stuart Deaver began playing the piano at age 11. By the age of 16 he was the first- place winner of the Tulsa Philharmonic's "Young Artist Competition" which led to his orchestral debut, performances of Rachmaninov's "Second Concerto" with the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Bernard Rubinstein.
He has since won numerous awards and has performed across the United States as well as in Portugal and Japan. He is also an active adjudicator and was invited to sit on the jury of the inaugural Schmidbauer International Piano Competition in Texas in 2008. He was on the staff of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Vianna da Motta International Piano Competitions in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2004 and 2007.
Deaver is a professor of piano at the University of Tulsa. He has held teaching positions at the University of Kansas, Midwestern Music Camp and ECU. He holds a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Kansas where he studied exclusively with the renowned pianist Sequeira Costa.
