A landscape artist widely recognized for his oil paintings of the American West will teach a three-day workshop Dec. 13-15 [TUESDAY-THURSDAY] at East Central University. Bruce Peil, a native Oklahoman who lives in Athens, Texas, will conduct his American Landscape Art Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day in ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

Peil, whose paintings are in many corporate and private collections, also teaches workshops at his studio in Athens, Texas, where he and his wife operate an artist retreat.

ECU’s Center of Continuing Education and Community Services is bringing Peil to ECU for the three days of instruction and painting. The cost is $345 and may be paid with Visa, MasterCard or Discover cards.

Peil is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and is the co-founder and signature member of the Outdoor Painters Society. He has been featured in such books and magazines as Art of the American West, Rockport Publishers, Art Talk, Southwest Art Magazine and The Artist's Magazine.

He is represented in galleries across the country, including the The Grapevine Gallery in Oklahoma City. His work has been included in such shows as the Oil Painters of America, The Albuquerque Museum miniature show, The Gilcrease Museum miniature show in Tulsa, Arts for the Parks Top 100, Settlers West Gallery, and many others.
