Students representing 11 campus organizations have been nominated for East Central University's Homecoming king and queen. Students vote for the top five queen candidates and the top five candidates for king.
This is only the second year a Homecoming king has been selected.
All the candidates will ride in the Homecoming parade at noon Oct. 25 [SATURDAY] and the winners will be announced during a coronation ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at Norris Stadium. The Homecoming football game between ECU and Southwestern Oklahoma State University will kick off at 6 p.m.
Candidates for ECU royalty must have completed 30 credit hours at ECU, have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and represent a registered ECU student organization. The selection of the finalists is based on their resumes, essays on why they should be selected and interviews.
The candidates for Homecoming queen include:
Kendall Barker of Krebs, a senior majoring in political science, represents Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She also is a member of Alpha Chi national honor society, Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society, Young Democrats and ECU's Legal Professions Association and Honor Court. She was a member of the Student Senate last year and was named the 2007 Greek Week Most Outstanding Female Initiate. She is the 2008 Panhellenic representative and is co-organizer of the 2008 ECU voter registration drive. She received an associate's degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College. She is the daughter of Libby Cossey.
Erin Franetovich of Shawnee, a sophomore majoring in general business, represents Alpha Gamma Delta. She is vice president of finance, philanthropy coordinator and property manager of Alpha Gamma Delta. She represents the sorority on the Panhellenic Council and is a member of the College Republicans. She is the daughter of Steve and Dyan Franetovich.
Alyssa Frizzell of Lindsay, a sophomore majoring in nursing, represents the Baptist Student Union. She is a student leader for the Trinity Baptist Church Collegiate Ministry and the Baptist Student Union and a joint worship leader for the BSU. She is the daughter of Rod and Penny Frizzell.
Sarah Hail of Edmond, a junior majoring in family and consumer sciences/retail merchandising, represents the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She is president of the SAFCS and secretary of Phi Upsilon Omicron honor society. She is a Tiger Ambassador and was nominated for Rising Sophomore Leader. She is a resident assistant, managing a floor in Briles Residence Hall. She is the daughter of Bruce and Anita Hail.
Sydney Kromer of Plano, Texas, a sophomore majoring in biology, represents Bio-Med/Tri Beta. She is a member of ECU's soccer team, Alpha Lambda Delta and has been listed on the President's Honor Roll. She is the daughter of Vickie and Jeff Kromer of Plano.
Barbara Miller of Ada, a senior majoring in business administration, represents the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is a Tiger Ambassador, a freshman orientation leader and a peer mentor. She is a member of the Trinity Baptist College Ministry and the Young Business Professionals of Ada. She is the daughter of Ron and Lee Miller.
Jacobi Nichols of Healdton, a senior majoring in political science, represents Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society. She has held the offices of treasurer of Pi Sigma Alpha and vice president of Chi Omega and of the Student Senate. She is a member of the Honors Program, CREW student programming board, the Society of Success and Leadership, Tiger Leadership and Young Democrats. She received the Honors Program's "Eye on You Award" in 2007, was a Top 10 Freshman and received the 2008 Rising Junior Leader Award. She is the daughter of Kimberly Jackson.
Kayla Pattison of Wewoka, a senior majoring in mass communication, represents Chi Omega. She has served on Chi Omega's executive board and was named a model initiate; has been secretary of the Panhellenic Council and secretary, vice president and president of the Academy of Communication Arts. She has been a cheerleader, a member of the CREW programming board and the Honors Program. She is the daughter of Robert and Roberta Pattison.
Phoebe Price of Ardmore, a sophomore majoring in communication studies, represents Collage, ECU's dance ensemble. She is editor of the 2009 Pesagi yearbook, has been listed on the President's Honor Roll, is a member of the Honors Student Association and received an Achievement Award on Academic Excellence Day last year. She is the youth liturgical dance director for the First United Methodist church of Ada and a Leadership Team member for Trinity Baptist Collegiate Ministries. She is the daughter of Chuck and Laurie Price.
Carissa Rodgers of Stonewall, a sophomore majoring in speech education, represents the Honors Student Association. She has been listed on the President's Honor Roll and is a student leader of Campus Crusade for Christ. She is a mentor and worship leader for youth at Freedomcenter church. She is the daughter of Jesse and Tammy Rodgers.
Katie Wellington of Ada, a junior majoring in mass communication/advertising and public relations, represents the International Coalition of ECU Cyclists. She also is a member of the Academy of Communication Arts and the Art Club. She was an ECU Junior Ambassador as a freshman. She has participated in the Homecoming 5K run and was a Freshman Success Leader last year. She is the daughter of Rodd and Kathy Wellington.

Jesse Allen of Ada, a junior majoring in business administration/management, represents the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has been vice president of the Student Senate, a Tiger Ambassador, a Top 10 Freshman and a member of the cross country team, the Honors Program and the Centennial Committee. He is a youth group volunteer for the First Baptist Church and a referee for basketball and soccer for the Ada Boys & Girls Club. He is the son of Russ and Amy Allen.
Brandon Banks of Shawnee, a junior majoring in biology/pre-med, represents Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He has been Phi Kappa Tau's treasurer and chair of numerous activities and was named the Best New Male Initiate during Greek Week 2007 and Outstanding Greek Scholar in 2006 and 2007. He also organized Greek Week 2008. He is the son of Dr. Stephen and Cindi Banks.
Shane Casey of Tecumseh, a senior majoring in biology, represents Bio-Med/Tri-Beta. He is the treasurer of Bio-Med/Tri Beta and provides tutoring sessions for lower level biology courses. He is a member of the Oklahoma Academy of Sciences. He earned an associate's degree from Seminole State University before coming to ECU. He is the son of Ralph and Gayla Casey.
Jamie Cluck of Ada, a junior majoring in physics, represents the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. He is a Tiger Ambassador and a member of the ECU Math Club. He is a member of the First Baptist Church orchestra and college ministry leadership team. He is the son of Jane and Terry Cluck.
Kyle Foster of Bromide, a senior majoring in political science, represents Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He has been freshman representative, treasurer and president of the Student Senate; an associate justice of ECU's Honor Court; and president and secretary of Pi Kappa Alpha. He is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society, the Honors Student Association, Order of Omega, Interfraternity Council, College Republicans and the Oklahoma Federation of College Republicans. He is executive director of the Oklahoma Political Science Association and managing editor of Oklahoma Politics. He is the son of Steve and Lisa Foster.
Jonathan Hicks of Allen, a junior majoring in political science, represents Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society. He is a columnist and news editor for the ECU Journal. He received awards for advertising a campus organization and for a supporting role in the ECU Theatre's "The Thieving Painters." He is the son of Patrick Hicks.
Scott Knighten of Ada, a senior majoring in history, represents the Honors Student Association. He also is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the ECU Russian Club and American Mensa. He works full time in the Information Technology department for the Chickasaw Nation. He is the son of Curtis and Jo Ann Knighten.
Ryan McMahan of Ada, a senior majoring in human resources counseling, represents the International Coalition of ECU Cyclists, a new organization he helped establish. He is a member of the Human Resources Club, the Sociology Club and College Republicans and is chairman of the Pontotoc County Republican Party. He works with the Big Brother Big Sister program, Trinity Baptist Church Skate/Bike Program and the Z-Tree Ministry Team. He is the son of Jack and Sandy McMahan.
Levi Robbins of Moyers, a senior majoring in history with teacher certification, represents the Baptist Student Union. He received an associate's degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College before coming to ECU. He is active in the BSU and works with children and youth at the First Baptist Church in Clayton. He is the son of Lucille Pound.
Patrick Tadlock of Elmore City, a junior majoring in political science, represents Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. He also is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society, CREW, the campus programming board, and Young Democrats. He also has served in the Student Senate and as a Tiger Ambassador. He is the son of Don and Cindy Tadlock.
