East Central University student Catherine Phipps, a junior biology major with a concentration in pre-med, is the 2013 Brad Henry International Scholarship recipient. Phipps, who also minors in Russian Studies and chemistry, will spend a semester studying at Swansea University in Swansea, Wales in the United Kingdom. Recipients of the scholarship award are selected by virtue of their excellent academic qualifications, outstanding writing and communication skills, exemplary character, and demonstrated leadership qualities. She is a member of ECU’s honors program and Tigerland Band. Phipps is also the recipient of ECU’s Presidential and Tigerland Band Scholarships. She is from Oklahoma City and attended Southmoore High School. Phipps is one of 10 recipients from the Regional University System of Oklahoma.
