“Transport,” the senior exhibit by Ryan Ringle of Ada, an art major at East Central University, is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in the Pogue Art Gallery in ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

“Ryan has a unique view of American car culture and has been receiving accolades throughout the region,” said Dr. Brad Jessop, director of ECU’s School of Fine Arts. “He was recently featured in the Momentum Exhibit for emerging artists at The Living Arts Center in Tulsa.”

As a child, Ringle said he watched his father repair and paint cars in his spare time. “He would fix them, paint them and make nice works from cars that others would not see potential in,” he said. “I spent my days in class drawing those cars with a boyhood fantasy of gruesome tires and engine elements instead of fully devoting my attention to the teacher.”

Ringle hopes to be different from typical car artists. While he aspires to be fairly realistic he likes to use found objects and include whimsical elements in his works rather than create detailed renderings.

Ringle’s work will be on exhibit through Dec. 18.
