WHAT: Emergency Response Exercises
WHEN: Feb. 4-5 (setup is on Feb. 3)
WHERE: East Central University’s Sports Complex (mainly Norris Field)
WHO: ECU, ECU Police Department, Oklahoma National Guard, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Incident Management Team, Ada Police Department, Lighthorse Police Department, Ada Fire Department, Pontotoc County Sherriff’s Department, Pontotoc County Emergency Manager, Mercy Emergency Management Services
WHY: Full-scale training exercises are necessary in order to prepare for potential incidents. Building relationships and testing communication tactics are key factors in ensuring cooperation between all potential first responders.
Training exercises on Feb. 4 and 5 will include emergency situations such as weapons of mass destruction, mass casualties, active shooter and explosive chemicals. The exercises will also enable local responders to train on the Incident Command System.
