Aquila Theatre presents “Pride and Prejudice” at East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023.

The Aquila Theatre Company will bring Jane Austen’s romantic comedy to life on the stage at Ataloa Theatre. The novel has stood the test of time as the Bennet sisters try to navigate their way toward love and marriage. Austen skewers the hypocrisies and absurdities of the English class system, putting the thoughts and feelings of her women characters front and center. This social satire will have wit, romance, and lots of dancing.

Aquila Theatre Company was founded in London by Peter Meineck in 1991 with a production of Aeschylus's “Agamemnon” at the Bridge Lane Theatre in London before touring in the United States to a few universities. The company, along with its founder moved to the United States in 1994, and in 1998, Aquila Theatre became a U.S.-based non-profit theatre company with an extensive international touring circuit and becoming an established part of the New York City theater scene.

The presentation of this professional production is made possible with assistance from the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.

General admission is $20 at ecok.edu/boxoffice.
