The first Project Invest Book Drive, a community effort to collect books for children up to the age of four, is underway in Ada during August and September.
East Central University's Child Care Resource & Referral Agency, in collaboration with Smart Start South Central, is hosting the book drive.
Through Project Invest, local businesses and community groups can support local child care providers through various activities and volunteer projects.
Those interested in donating new or gently used books may take them to Applebee's, Chili's, Barbara King Real Estate, Arvest Bank, Citizens Bank, Vision Bank, Hastings or Brown's Shoe Fit.
Books also may be taken to several locations on the ECU campus, including the hallways by the Financial Aid Office in the Administration Building and the book store in the Memorial Student Union, the Education Building, Fentem Hall and beside the information desk in the University Center.
Some businesses are offering discounts or other incentives for patrons who donate. For questions or more information about Project Invest, call Crystal Hudson at 559-5768 or Trish Little at 559-5367.
