A retirement celebration is being conducted for East Central University President John R. Hargrave on Friday, Feb. 17, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Foundation Hall of the ECU Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.
A public come-and-go reception for Hargrave is also scheduled for Feb. 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the CBCC. Refreshments will be served and the reception is free.
Hargrave, the university’s eighth president, is set to retire March 1. He has served in that capacity since 2009.
The celebration will feature a dinner and dance with the Dave Thomason Band performing.
Among the featured speakers are: Former Oklahoma Gov. George Nigh, Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Chancellor Glen Johnson, OSRHE Regent Mike Turpen, Regional University System of Oklahoma Regent Connie Reilly and former ECU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Duane C. Anderson.
Funds raised from the event will be donated to the ECU Foundation, Inc. in honor of Hargrave.
The cost, which includes the program, dinner and dance, is $75 per person. Table sponsorships are also available for $1,500 (up to eight guests). Various other sponsorship opportunities are available as well.
