ADA – The Oklahoma Community Orchestra is taking the Ataloa Theatre stage at East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center on Saturday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m.
Guest artists will be Brad Richter on guitar, Viktor Uzur on cello and Jerod Tate, a Native American Composer, on piano. Selections for the concert will include Fanfare for the Common Man, Indian Spirit at Mesa Falls, a Duo Concerto and Symphony No. 1.
The Oklahoma Community Orchestra was formed in 1984 with the purpose of promoting the performing arts, providing quality performances of symphonic literature at a nominal charge to the community and exercising and improving the artistic skills of those performing in the orchestra.
After 30 years, the orchestra is still made up of volunteers and includes professional musicians, former high school and college orchestra members, a limited number of college students, independent music teachers and instrumental music teachers from the public schools and area universities.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at tickets.ecok.edu or at the box office the night of the show.
The Oklahoma Community Orchestra is hosted by the Ada Arts Council in conjunction with the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Season at ECU. The mission of the Ada Arts Council is to promote, cultivate, and aid the arts and humanities in the greater Ada area.
Those who want to make it a dinner-and-show night can present their season ticket patron card and receive a 10 percent discount at Blue Moon Café, Chili’s Bar and Grill, Rib Crib, Santa Fe Cattle Co. and Vintage 22 on the night of the performance.
The 2013-14 fine arts season is sponsored by the ECU Foundation, Inc., Oklahoma Arts Council, Communication Federal Credit Union, Vision Bank, Citizen’s Bank, Blue Moon Café, Santa Fe Cattle Co., ECU Bookstore, San Remo’s Pizzeria and Magic T’s.
